ASTM A36 hot Rolled mild steel bars are used for general purpose applications. This steel is a low carbon grade, having good over-all mechanical properties. It is easy to fabricate by the usual structural methods, such as cold and hot forming and welding. Application:
This material is used for general purpose structural and miscellaneous non-critical applications that involve mild cold bending, mild hot forming, punching, and welding. Such applications include parts for general machinery, agricultural implements, transportations equipment, etc. It is used where seams and other surface imperfection may be tolerated.
Cold drawing hot rolled bars is accomplished by pulling (drawing) a bar through a mould which is smaller than the incoming hot rolled size.
The “cold working” process improves the dimensional tolerances of the bar, the straightness, and the surface appearance and enhances the physical properties of the steel. All our steel cold drawn bars are also produced with our in line proprietary surface inspection equipment. Machinability and improved chip formation are enhanced by the elevated physical properties.
